“On behalf of the Innovation Movement, CEA congratulates David on his inspiring interpretation of the innovation process, as it begins in the mind of the entrepreneur who has a great vision,†said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro. “Innovation is global in scope, and this competition is a unique opportunity to engage with citizens around the world on innovation, a topic vital to global economic recovery.â€
Designers were asked to convey their interpretations of innovation from the past, present or future. Voting was open to the public and the two million registered users of the Threadless community.
For his winning design, Fleck will receive a trip to the 2010 International CES, January 7-10, in Las Vegas, where his design will be on display and available to tradeshow attendees who join the Innovation Movement. The innovation shirt will also be given away through a variety of social-media challenges at CES. The shirt will also be produced for retail and sold on Threadless.com.
“Right from the start, humans have been innovating—from the wheel to the pyramids, the light bulb to the Segway,†said Fleck. “I wanted to celebrate the incredible journey with this design. Innovations can revolutionize our lives, and the sky really is the limit!â€
Apps for Innovation – December 14 DeadlineÂ
The Threadless challenge winner will join CEA’s “Apps for Innovation†winner at CES. The “Apps for Innovation†contest is accepting apps submissions through Monday, December 14. Software developers are asked to build apps that either help constituents better communicate with lawmakers about the need for innovation policies (such as alternative energy, broadband, patent reform or trade agreements) or apps that illuminate how innovation is already at work in the United States, and across the globe. Apps can be for any type of device or platform.
The apps winner will receive $10,000 and a free trip to CES, where he or she will be announced to the public during Mr. Shapiro’s keynote address at the show. A second place winner will receive $5,000, and $3,500 will go to a third-place winner. The best apps from the contest will be on display via a web kiosk on the CES show floor. To compete, visit: http://www.appsforinnovation.com
